Meet COMMISSIONER Hayes

Commissioner Lisa Hayes is a small business owner and community leader who serves as Commissioner for  Williamson County's 1st District. She lives in rural unincorporated Franklin with her menagerie of farm animals.

In 2019, Lisa purchased and reopened a 98-year-old county store, The Davis General, making it a food destination. Commissioner Hayes took office in August 2022. She has worked to be mindful of taxpayers' dollars voting No for a property tax increase.  Prior to her tenure as a store owner and Commissioner, she spent 26 years in Human Resources, serving as the Vice President of HR in her last role.

Commissioner Hayes currently serves as Chair of the Tax Study Committee and member of the Parks and Recreation Committee. The previous two years, Lisa has served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Property Committee where she required all resolutions for contract renewals be attached for review, increasing transparency on county business, before reviewing and voting on contract renewals.

Mostly recently, Commissioner Hayes served her district, in Fairview and Fernvale, by partnering with citizens to fight the development of a Rural Retreat on a 300+ acre property that would have brought zero tax dollars and lots of noise and disruption in a quiet and serene valley.  Proud to say the efforts to shut down this project were successful.

Commissioner Hayes has served her district by partnering with citizens in Burwood to push back on the expansion of the Thompsons Station and Spring Hill Urban Growth Plans (UGP).  Lisa rallied her constituents in district 1 and 9 to fight back and won, resulting in these areas removed from the UGP.  These are just a few examples of how Commissioner Hayes has stepped up to serve her district.

Lisa enjoys serving and advocating for her community.  She looks forward to continuing to fight for and serve as a leader in her district.
